Hospital and Announcement

It was an unforgettable experience - childbirth.  So many words to describe the events that occurred that day but overall, it was a joyous and unbelievable experience.  I definitely think the Doula made all the difference for me and Mark as first time parents, as well as all the classes we took at Baylor.  Here are pictures Vanessa took at the hospital of all our visitors and this second link is a compilation of pictures from my iPhone and Cindy's camera.  We were also able to use an onsite photographer at the hospital that took newborn pictures of Greyson on the day we checked out.  I used one of those photos for his announcement below.  Can't believe he was just 3 days old in this picture!

About a week after we brought Greyson home, his skin and eyes started turning yellow. He had jaundice.  The levels were too high and we had to admit him to the NICU at Baylor Grapevine. He ended up in the hospital for almost a week!  Mark and I went to and from the hospital to visit since there were no rooms for us to spend the night.  They did intensive light therapy with multiple lamps aimed at him.  Here's a pic of Greyson sunbathing. He looked so cute and vulnerable.

Greyson Chance Thomas Lee

As the date grew closer to April, 2012, Mark and I narrowed down the choices for baby names.  From the beginning, I really liked the name Chance for its meaning since we had gone through various IVF treatments unsuccessfully and ended up conceiving naturally.  Mark liked the name Greyson as a first name since he wanted a two syllable first name (with his last name being shorter). He also wanted Thomas, his biological father's first name as a middle name, which I liked.  So we both dug in our heels on our first name choices and at the end Cindy was the one that said we should just go with Greyson Chance Thomas Lee.  It flowed well and kind of stuck once I got over the question...how does he do his middle initial?  Turns out the people at the hospital said lots of couples give their babies two middle names so for Greyson it would just be C or CT if there's room.

Here are some sonogram pictures of Greyson in my belly. Mark and I were always excited and on pins and needles on the days when we could see him! I am still amazed at these pics. It was great to be able to send these to my mom and family during the pregnancy as well.

Best Baby Shower Ever!

My sisters and friend Kieu had been waiting a long time to throw me a baby shower.  They went all out and I have to say, it was incredible. Gorgeous, fun and special, beyond anything I had imagined. Not only did they capture all the things I love about the occasion and entertaining and decorating, but every little detail was unique.  The arts and crafts that were created and theme was perfect!  I couldn't have been more surprised or appreciative of all the hard work and special care that went into each aspect of the shower.  My mom and grandma's cooking and their attendance along with friends and family made it even more memorable. I will always cherish this day and the beautiful pictures that my brother Kevin captured so we can all relive it when we want to!  There's nothing like a well planned Tran Sisters event! Thank you Cindy, Vanessa, Kieu and everyone that helped out!

Picking Up Where We Left Off

Can't believe I haven't done a post since 2010! So much has changed and yet stayed the same. The biggest event that I need to document is the new addition to our family and all the events that led up to us now having a 5 month old baby in the house.  So let's go back in time!

First, the journey to Greyson.  Here are some maternity pics my sisters took for me towards the end of my pregnancy.  I had an amazing pregnancy and was healthy and happy the entire 9 months.  I definitely didn't know what to expect but my body adjusted to all the changes and as the baby grew I felt more and more confident and excited about the upcoming arrival of my son.  It still sounds surreal to say that!
